Aurora Aksnes' earliest musical memories involve finding a piano hidden in her attic, and being captivated by the sound it made. Parents May-Britt as well as Jan Oystein Aksnes encouraged her to take up music not as an occupation or pastime but for growth. This led to her began to write her own music. Her influences include renowned writer Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan and her affinity with Bjork's style. She decided to start performing the songs she wrote publicly after her mom suggested they can help other people, not to gain fame with her music, but rather to help the people around them understand the importance of their work and how they can affect the world. The piano was her first instrument when she was six years old and started writing music at age nine. The fact that she was a musician wasn't known by her family until she turned fourteen. Aurora's accomplishments were never the goal of her. Aurora says she loves creating songs. She believes that music can help any person feel better.
