Anika Noni is an American performer and actress. She is best known for the role of Tiana Disney's first princess of African descent as Tiana Disney's first African-American princess in The Princess and the Frog. Disney Legend was bestowed upon her in the year 2011. Rose was the Oscar-winning actress who played Lorrell in Dreamgirls. Anika Noni rose (born on September 6, 1973) is an American actor and singer. She is best known for portraying Tiana Disney's first African-American princess as seen in The Princess and the Frog (2009). Disney Legend was bestowed upon her in 2011. Her other notable roles include her starring role as Lorrell Robinson on the Academy Award-winning Film Dreamgirls (2006) and for her role as her character LaVerne JUKEBOX Ganner on The Starz show Power. Her performance in the theater are also well-known, including her roles in the role of Emmie Thbodeaux and as the character in Caroline or Change, a Broadway show Caroline or Change (2004) that earned her the Tony Award Best Featured actress in a Musical. Her nomination was in an award for the Tony Award Best Featured actor in a play for the Broadway revival A Raisin in the Sun.
